Breaking Summer Reading Records...
Good morning from Summer Reading-land! As I watch our Summer Reading participation climb, I get VERY excited! This means we are getting the word out about how wonderful the library is, that we are motivating kids to read more, that we are providing fun and engaging activities, and so much more!

Hi Everyone,

A Connection to Vietnam
My trip to Vietnam this last March was inspired by the late Patrick Lucero, a nineteen year old soldier who died in Viet Nam in 1967. Later this year the East Side library in Pueblo will be named after him. I will be the manager there. Shortly after Patrick’s name was being considered for the library I found out another library built in Ba Long Commune in Quang Tri province had been named for Patrick and opened on September 11, 2010. I found this out through a chance meeting and association with a Seattle based organization, PeaceTrees Vietnam, whose mission is of peace and compassion.
Drumroll please....
First of all - I need to share that I entered the wrong info last week. I said we had over 6,000 kids registered for Summer Reading last year - and I was wrong. I had inadvertently added another figure to our total to get that number.

Thanks Jen, for the update: The Eiler Heights Neighborhood Story/Movie Premiere and Public Meeting was a giant success!
