State Parks Passes Coming on June 20th

Author: jill.deulen / Date:
As many of you have heard, the Colorado State Library and Colorado Division of Parks and Wildlife have teamed up to begin circulating state park passes at public libraries!  This is a great collaboration between two state agencies that encourages learning and wellness!   PCCLD was given 16 passes to circulate based on our number of branches.  The program begins on June 20th, the first day of summer.  Each location will receive two passes to start with.  On Monday morning these can be checked out on a first come, first serve basis. After that, Technical Services will make the passes holdable and they will float.  Each pass contains a backpack, binoculars, the state park hanging tag pass, and various guides.  The backpacks should NOT be kept on the general holds shelf.  They should be kept back where only staff has access to, possibly with ILLs.  While the backpacks themselves will have RFID tags, the packs should be checked out and returned at the staff desks.  This will insure that if an item is not returned, we are able to find it out right away.  The list of replacement costs is included in the FAQ sheet, as well as in the Marc record.  Please encourage customers to return the back packs to the desk when checking them out.  While the items are holdable, renewals are not allowed.  One pass allows one carload of people into the state park.  However, fishing and camping fees are not included in this pass.

I am attaching the FAQ sheet that will answer many more specific questions.  Along with displaying the backpacks, it would be great if each location would create a display of new Colorado hiking and nature guides we have purchased for this program. On Friday morning I will be personally be delivering two packs, display materials, and books to each location.  I will be available to answer additional questions then, but let me know if you have any before that.  I have a feeling this program is going to be a really popular one!
