The Colorado Association of Libraries (CAL) has awarded its early literacy award to the SPELL (Supporting Parents in Early Literacy through Libraries) program. PCCLD has been a key contributor to this statewide program, which has been led locally here by our very own Kirsten Dees (Youth Services Librarian with Early Literacy Emphasis) with support from a number of staff from throughout the library district..

In my role of coordinating security efforts for the district, I have worked to tighten up some of our procedures to ensure consistency in practice AND so you know what to do in the event that a problem happens.
Many of the schools for D60 & D70 utilize the Accelerated Reader program which assigns levels to books, and has tests for the student to take after reading the book. You might have had students and parents come into the library looking for "AR" books.
Every Sunday, staff from all over PCCLD come together and provide library service to anyone who visits Rawlings for 4 very busy hours. Some of these staff work at Rawlings and some are visitors from other locations.
Thank you everyone for helping us select 'PAWS for Life' no-kill animal shelter for our group volunteer project as part of the Corporate Cup Together Service Project. Our project will run from September 1 through September 10.
