I am pleased to announce that the new library currently under construction on the St. Charles Mesa (24655 US Hwy 50E, Pueblo, CO 81006) has been officially named the Tom L. and Anna Marie Giodone Library by action of the PCCLD Board of Trustees at their regular meeting last evening. The naming took place in respect to the Giodone family's support for the new library there.
The Board of Trustees also took action yesterday to name the new library in Colorado City (4801 Cibola Drive, Colorado City, CO 81019) as the Greenhorn Valley Library. This name was agreed upon as representative of this geographic area of Pueblo County, which is commonly referred to as the Greenhorn Valley, including Rye, Colorado City, and a large surrounding portion of southern Pueblo County.
These two library namings come only a few months following the earlier christening of the new library on the City of Pueblo's east side (1315 E. 7th Street, Pueblo, CO 81001) as the Patrick A. Lucero Library in honor of this Vietnam War hero who grew up in this neighborhood.
Construction and other work underway for each of the three new libraries remain on schedule to allow them to open to the general public later this fall. Specific dates announcing the respective openings of each new library is pending but we believe each library will open during or near the month of November. Grand opening dates for each new library should be available in about one month.
