Summer Reading - Registration is available Tuesday, May 26!

Author: Janina.Goodwin / Date:
By Tuesday, May 26 you should receive your Summer Reading Binder which has all of the resources you will need to facilitate Summer Reading at your location.  Hopefully this post answers any questions you have.

Summer Reading Registration

Registration goes live for Staff and Customers (via online) on Tuesday, 5/26.  Customers can print their game boards, but you can also provide any game board materials as of Tuesday.  Please alert customers, however, that Summer Reading official starts June 1 – so prizes may not be redeemed until then.  I’m sure some kids will start early – we are not the reading police – so we will not worry about that.

Customers can use the public side (which will be available on our website) to register themselves.  YOU should use the staff side, however.  Access registration this way:
https://pueblo.readingrecord.net/staff/login.php
Username: pccldsummer
Password: goread

After they are registered in Reading Record – log into to their progress and check the first box – so they are entered into the grand prize drawing.

We have 3 games – customers may only do one for the entire summer…so they should choose wisely.  Review each game so you can know how to recommend them.  They have age suggestions, but consider those loose suggestions – we will not be asking for age verification J
When a customer registers with you, be sure to stamp their game board and tattoo or sticker (if they are a pre-reader or reader).  If at any point through the summer someone presents an un-stamped game board to you, it is possible that we do not have their registration.  Please collect their registration at that time and stamp the game board.  If you are entering registrations into Reading Record and find that the person who you are entering is already in Reading Record – do not remove that registration in place of your own.  Due to the Summer Reading Incentive, you should honor the previously entered registration.  For more information, see here:  http://portal.pueblolibrary.org/announcement/youth-summer-reading-registration-incentive

Summer Reading Binder
Prizes: The back cover of your binder lists all of the prizes for each step in each game.  I would recommend putting together any coupon bundles in advance.  If you have any questions or concerns about the prizes – please contact Natalie.  Some of our prizes have limited quantities and when they are gone – they are gone.  There will not be any more of those types or any replacements.  If a customer has a question or concern about that, please let them know that all prizes are while supplies last, but if they have any further questions they can contact me.

As you give prizes out - be sure to stamp the 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 spaces to mark what prizes have been received.

Help: If you have questions or need anything replenished, please review the “Help” page.

Program Information: Contains a program guide and “A Week In Summer Reading.”  This helps you see the district overview of events that are happening at each location.  You might want to include some specific information for your branch in this section for your staff.  Please remember – if you give anything to a customer (flyers, calendars, etc) they must be produced by Community Relations.

Registration Forms: You may choose to collect registrations via these registration forms and enter them later into Reading Record when there is more time.  I would recommend you keep your registrations up to date as much as possible to ensure your statistics are accurately available.  Once your registration is entered – SHRED THESE SHEETS.  There is a “master” in the back of this section so you can make additional copies.

Teen Tracker Forms: The teen game is a bit complex and we want to track more of their milestones.  Please utilize this form to track their progress.  Be sure to input this information into Reading Record and shred.

Badge Tracker Forms: If you need to track the badges via a form to later input into Reading Record – this is your form for that purpose.  Be sure to shred the paperwork when you are finished.

Reading Record Information: Here is a brief guide on how to use Reading Record.  You just need to ensure that registrations and tracking is up-to-date.  I will pull weekly reports to see how registration is going.

Are you an expert now?  I bet you are!!!  But please don’t hesitate to call me if you have any questions.
