Summer Reading is HERE! Are ya ready? We just about are in YS…we are still doing some last minute prize distribution. If you have any questions about prizes, the game, etc…just let your resident children’s person know or feel free to contact me directly.
Just a few last minute things about Summer Reading:
-Be flexible with the ages. We have stated that the pre-reader game is for 0-4 and the reader game is for 5-12…well…if you have a little one who wants to do the big game – that is just fine! Also, our Teen Card says Grades 6-12, but we decided to make age the only thing we track after that was designed. SO…if you have an 11 or 12 year old who is in middle school – let them register for the Teen Game if they want – and select “Pre-teen.”
-Please stamp kids/teen games before you give them to the kids – when they register. This way, you know for certain that they are registered. Some kids may have the insert from the paper or have printed the game card online – but we aren’t certain that they are registered. If you come across an unstamped game card for ANY of the games – please ask for the registration information – just to be on the safe side – and stamp the card. I’ll worry about duplicate entries, if they happen, at a later time.
-Please stamp the reader and teen games as they complete the prize levels. These are not tracked through Reading Record – so this is the only way we can ensure that they don’t receive multiple prizes.
-Make sure when you are entering registrations to track that you have registered that person – and that they received their game and sticker/tattoo.
I’ll be blogging this Summer – so checkout www.puebolibrary.org/summerreading for more information.
Youth Services has a new member to the team! We have adopted Jerry the Gerbil. He needs a new cage (one that is easier to see him in), and once we have that he will be in the YS area for kids to meet. Until then, he’s in my office. Feel free to come meet him anytime – you can even give him a sunflower seed!
