Service Animals

Hello All-

Is a miniature horse allowed in the Library?

Please take a moment to review the ADA Revised Requirements regarding service animals. More frequently we are seeing dogs in our libraries. While our policy prohibits pets, it is important to know how to respond to situations that include service animals. There are two questions to ask: 1) is the dog a service animal required because of a disability, and 2) what work or task has the dog been trained to perform? There is no requirement for certification to be shown. When can we ask these animals to leave the library? Animals must be house broken and be under control.

I'll be visiting public services department meetings to reveal the miniature horse question. Or don't wait. Go ahead and read the attachment!
