Walker Announces Retirement from Pueblo Library
PUEBLO, Colo. — Executive Director and Librarian Jon Walker has announced his intention to retire from the Pueblo City-County Library District as of Sept. 1, 2022. The Board of Trustees accepted this announcement with regret – and with gratitude for Walker’s nearly 19 years of dedicated service to the Pueblo library.
In 2004, after a nationwide search, the PCCLD Board of Trustees selected Walker to lead the library district into the future of library services. When Walker accepted this position he was tasked with the challenge of rebuilding a positive workplace and creating a library district equipped for success in the 21st century. Under his leadership PCCLD is now recognized both statewide and nationally as an unparalleled provider of library services.
“The Board is extraordinarily grateful to Jon for his strong and dedicated leadership,” Fredrick Quintana, president of PCCLD’s Board of Trustees said. “Our District has continually met and exceeded its mission and vision and has made a profoundly positive impact on our local community in large part because of Jon’s intellectual insight and effective management.”
The Board of Trustees in its responsibility for hiring will meet in March to determine its recruitment process for the position of executive director and librarian.
PCCLD is dedicated to serving as a foundation for the Pueblo community by offering welcoming, well equipped and maintained facilities, outstanding collections, and well-trained employees who provide expert service encouraging the joy of reading, supporting lifelong learning and presenting access to information from around the world.
