We are so excited to have the PLA Conference coming to Denver this year! For those of you who are not familiar with it, the Public Libraries Association Conference is one of the biggest events of the year in the library industry. The event will run from April 5-9, 2016 and will include extraordinary speakers, thought provoking break-out sessions, pre-conference educational classes, author events, and hundreds of vendor exhibits displaying the latest products and solutions for public libraries today.
PCCLD is sounding the horn to managers for registration with early bird registration deadlines approaching on 1/22/2016. Managers have all been given a special PLA Training & Expense Request form to complete for their respective departments. We are using this "department training request approach" for the PLA Conference as opposed to having individuals make separate requests. Approval to attend the conference will be made by the COO and Executive Director based on a number of factors including available funding, relevance to the employee's job, benefit to the district from their attendance and adequate coverage for library operation.
All those interested in attending the PLA conference should speak to their manager. All are encouraged to take advantage of early bird discounts and cost saving measures such as car pooling and room sharing as is practical. Managers should submit their department request to the COO by January 15. Later requests will be considered provided funding is available.
