This year’s holiday season will be different as we continue to cope with the COVID-19 public health crisis. Now is a difficult time as local transmission of the Coronavirus and hospitalizations from COVID-19 are too high. This means that PCCLD will continue with its current limited services for now. These are proven to be safe with focus on curbside and home mail delivery of library materials, telephone support, and online and virtual services and programs.
It is critical for all of us to remain diligent about COVID-19 preventative measures. Public health authorities urge each of us to do these things:
1. Wear a mask when in the presence of others and use other personal protective equipment, as appropriate
2. Maintain social distance always staying 6ft away from others
3. Regularly wash hands and sanitize high-touch surfaces.
There is hope. Although too high, the rate of the spread of Coronavirus infection in our community is reported to be plateauing or even coming down slightly. Effective vaccines also are beginning to become available and there is reason to believe broad administration of Coronavirus vaccines to the general population can help end the pandemic over the longer term. Keep in mind that it will take a number of months for these vaccines to be commonly available both nationally and here in Pueblo County.
PCCLD administration remains in contact with state and local health authorities and we will continue to keep you posted about the COVID-19 situation including progress on the vaccination program. Here are two recommended websites to learn more about COVID-19 vaccines:

I wish for you a safe and happy holiday season!
Sincerely,
Jon
