PCCLD is transitioning its internal security services. Beginning May 1, 2018, the library district will bring security services in-house in accordance with a plan adopted by the PCCLD Board of Trustees. This means the contracted security service will be replaced by a PCCLD-employed team of officers. PCCLD is commencing recruiting now to fill a number of security jobs, including a full-time Security Supervisor, a full-time Security Officer, and several part-time Security Officer positions. The Security Supervisor will report to Sara Rose, Chief Operating Officer, and work closely with library managers and others to address PCCLD safety and security needs. This change allows us to increase the number of hours of security patrol, integrates security personnel into our work culture, and facilitates increased cooperation between the library district and local law enforcement. PCCLD joins a number of other public libraries around the country in making this transition, including the Pikes Peak Library District in Colorado Springs and the Denver Public Library, among many. PCCLD expects to continue its current contracted service with the TNT Security company until May 1. We will keep you apprised as this change continues to unfold.
