The Adult Literacy Program will be delivering its first five Neighborhood Mini-Libraries to partner organizations in June as part of our efforts to Build a Better World through the Summer Reading Program! Funded by a Friends of the Library Grant and donations from Lowe's, the mini-libraries will complement PCCLD’s community bookshelf program by creating attractive spaces to house gently-used books in or near high-traffic community buildings not currently served by Books A La Carte. The goal of this project is to improve literacy, inspire a love of reading and promote lifelong learning by putting books in the hands of adults and children in key locations beyond our library walls. This program also encourages community organizations to be advocates for learning and education by serving as books stewards and mini-library program partners. These libraries will be placed at the Pueblo Zoo, Parkview Medical Center, Pueblo County Court House, the new Pueblo County Parent Child Center and at the Pueblo County Health Department. A big thank you goes out to Adult Literacy Coordinator, Jackie Swanson and Adult Literacy Volunteer Tutor, Larry Theut for their hard work to make this project happen!
