Monday, September 26 visit from the Lieutenant Governor

Author: Janina.Goodwin / Date:
Good afternoon!  The Rawlings Public Library is very honored to be hosting a special visitor on Monday, September 26.  Lieutenant Governor Donna Lynne will be visiting Rawlings Library on the first day of LIteracy Week.  Please see the message below from Beth Crist at the State Library about this visit:

"“… Literacy Week, in which the Lt. Governor leads an annual week-long tour across Colorado in the autumn, visiting small and large communities alike, to build excitement about reading and to spread the message that literacy efforts are crucial in the classroom and at home. The Lt. Governor visits schools, libraries, and community centers to learn about best practices in the world of literacy. The tour highlights communities doing amazing work to instill a love of reading in kids and empower parents to keep the mission going at home. Literacy Week is a collaborative effort of Serve Colorado, Colorado State Library, Colorado Department of Education, Colorado Department of Human Services, One Book 4 Colorado, and a variety of corporate and community partners.

This year the planning committee would like to visit the Rawlings Library; this is a great honor as it recognizes Pueblo City-County Library District’s excellent work in literacy and all library services.”
