On Tuesday, March 7, an email was sent from Library.Notices@pueblolibrary.org to nearly all PCCLD employees and several thousand individual registered PCCLD cardholders. As a library employee, you likely received this email in your own PCCLD email “Inbox.” The email cited a breach of Lynda.com by an unauthorized third party and indicated this breach included possible unauthorized access to some personal information for some PCCLD cardholders.
There is significantly more information available to us now about this breach, which I am sharing with you here.
First, please know that Lynda.com is a subscription database provided to members of the community by PCCLD. Library cardholders and those using computers in PCCLD libraries can access this PCCLD-subscribed service at https://www.lynda.com/portal/sip?org=pueblolibrary.org&triedlogout=true. It offers thousands of video courses in software, creative, and business skills. More information about the service is available at http://www.lynda.com. In order to use this service, PCCLD patrons are required to set-up a special Lynda.com user account, which includes an email address and password.
We now know from our colleagues at Lynda.com that a total of 372 PCCLD users have created Lynda.com accounts and it is these individuals whose Lynda.com accounts were potentially exposed to an unauthorized intruder of Lynda.com databases in December. We also know specifically who these user accounts belong to and we are in touch with each of these individuals to ensure they receive this alert. The personal information possibly accessed by the Lynda.com intruder is limited to the following:
·Name
·Email address
·History of video courses accessed by that individual
If you have any questions about this matter or if a customer asks about this, please do not hesitate to share this email or refer them directly to my office.
