Library Ballot Measure 6B: The Voters say YES to Libraries!

Author: jon.walker / Date:
Good morning, Library Ballot measure 6B was approved by the voters during the election yesterday. This marks a special time for the library. I know you will join me in taking pride in knowing our library has earned a positive reputation and strong engagement with our community. It is testament to who we are as an institution, and it is evidence of our community's belief in enduring American values. Our belief in the merit of ensuring every citizen's access to resources for lifelong learning, the power of open and free exchange of ideas and information, and the enlightenment offered by literacy and reading. Yesterday we learned our community is convinced that a strong level of support should continue for our library. We should accept this not only as an endorsement but also as a challenge and a call to action to provide the best possible public library service to our community. I appreciate you for helping making this so. I also thank the members of Pueblo Library Proud, the local advocacy committee that worked diligently to communicate our message to the local citizenry. It also is important to recognize the Friends of the Library and the Pueblo Library Foundation. Both organizations gave generously in assisting with this effort. Finally, you should know the PCCLD Board of Trustees supported this effort, too, with vigor. It truly was a great team effort. Thanks and congratulations to all. The best is yet to come for PCCLD. Jon
