An Important Announcement

Author: jon.walker / Date:
I am pleased to announce the following changes. The Board of Trustees and I recently agreed on these. Sherri Baca now becomes PCCLD Associate Executive Director. The current needs of the institution are better supported by formally identifying a second-in-command for the District. Sherri will begin serving in this role on January 1. She is an experienced non-profit executive leader whose credentials include a Master of Business Administration, Certified Public Accountant, and Certified Public Finance Officer. She is well connected and respected in the community, and she has worked with notable success for the last several years for PCCLD. She currently is matriculating toward a Master of Library Science via the University of Kentucky. PCCLD has prospered and grown in the past decade. This includes increasing the number of branches from four to eight and general annual revenue growing from $7.5 million to $12.4 million. This expansion implies nearly doubling the organization’s moving parts and activities. Today’s announced change will better enable effective administration of this bigger, more robust institution. Sherri, as Associate Executive Director, will continue to be PCCLD’s principal financial officer. She also will take on a number of additional tasks and responsibilities. These include, among other things, leading PCCLD’s upcoming strategic planning and facilities renovation projects. She will be involved in administrative work for the full breadth of public library programs, services, and activities. In order to allow time for this, the following job assignments become effective on January 1: • Sherri’s job title changes from Chief Finance Officer to Associate Executive Director. She will serve as second in command at PCCLD and take a lead responsibility for the strategic, tactical, and financial activities of the organization including leadership, guidance, and direction to all departments and branches of the District, and work closely with to the Executive Director to set goals and objectives, make decisions, and measure and report on PCCLD successes and areas for development. She will work with other members of management to ensure coordination and cooperation between PCCLD departments and branches, and help formulate and interpret management decisions, directions, policies and procedures to staff and the public. She will spearhead the recommendation, development, communication, and implementation of change initiatives and improvement strategies for the organization. • Alexandria Romero’s job changes from Lead Accountant to Controller. She will oversee the day-to-day activities of the Finance Office, reporting to Sherri. Alex is an experienced accountant and auditor. She holds a Master of Accounting degree and she is a Certified Public Accountant. Alex’s role as Controller includes ensuring PCCLD’s financial operations and accounting practices adhere to the highest ethical standards and comply with all legal requirements, rules, and regulations. She will oversee financial reporting and serve as a key point of contact for the Finance Department including providing leadership and supervision for Finance staff. • Patricia Sanchez’s hours increase in the Finance Office effective January 1 from part time to full time as Accounting Specialist. Her duties include accurate accounting operations, and internal and external customer service to support the Library’s good business standing with vendors, customers, and employees. Her job includes accuracy in managing cash accounts, accounts payable processing, tracking grants, managing contracts and maintaining financial records. Please join me in congratulating Sherri, Alex, and Patricia on their respective expanded roles at PCCLD. I have no further organization changes to announce at this time. One hallmark of PCCLD’s success in recent years is our ability and willingness to reshape the organization in support of the best library service possible for our community. These changes will enhance PCCLD’s capacity to deliver on this.
