Free Face Mask Program Begins Friday, January 21, 2022

Author: Sherri.Baca / Date:
The Free Face Mask Program Starts: FRIDAY, JANUARY 21, 2022 and goes until supplies last or the State program ends. We are ready to launch the State's program to provide free KN95 and surgical grade face masks to the public. We have both types of masks to distribute at all library locations (not satellite locations at this time). We will offer masks to the public while supplies last on a first come, first served basis. No ID or library card is needed to request masks. The person must be present to receive the masks -- we will not provide masks for persons not present. We do not control the types of masks available and will provide what we have at the time. Please see the program details here: https://covid19.colorado.gov/freemasks We will hand out masks at a service desk at each library (up to 5 masks PER PERSON PER MONTH). We are NOT tracking names and whether people are exceeding the 5 masks per person per month. This is a simple process and relies on the public to follow the program rules. Please handle rule breaking as a patron conduct issue if it happens. Housekeeping items: * From the Facilities team, each library will receive both types of masks and containers to hold them at the service desk. Managers can order more masks as needed until the program ends or our supplies run out. * The masks come in boxes or bags of 50 masks -- none are individually wrapped. Staff handing out the masks may want to keep a glove handy to count out 5 masks and hand them to the patron - for cleanliness purposes. * Signs are available which communicate program details and another sign says masks are "out-of-stock." Community Relations can print more signs as needed. * Please consult with your branch or department manager about whether your location will offer curbside delivery of masks. * Community Relations will make public announcements about the program. The call center should transfer calls to the specific branch if the patron wants to know if masks are available at a specific location. * Please keep the PCCLD-purchased masks SEPARATE from the State-provided free masks for the public. PCCLD will continue to provide KN95 masks to library employees (one mask per week). PCCLD will continue to provide patrons a single disposable mask for use in the library. The goal of this program is to get the masks out to the public and help stem the spread of COVID-19. Keep the process simple and use our signage, especially the out-of-stock signs as applicable. Thank you in advance for administering this worthwhile and needed program. This is a great public service for our libraries to offer. Please let me or your supervisor know if you have any questions. An FAQ will be available shortly for your reference.
