Dear All,
The spread of the Coronavirus locally has significantly increased recently. As a result, the Board of Trustees voted last night for changes to current library COVID-19 protocols and PCCLD is making three upcoming changes.
The first change becomes effective immediately and requires all employees inside a PCCLD facility to wear a face covering over the nose and mouth when in the presence of others. This policy likely will remain in place while Pueblo County is an area of high COVID-19 transmission and it will serve to better protect the health and well-being of library employees. Your supervisor is in the loop on this change and you are encouraged to check with your supervisor for more information about this.
The second change will become effective on or around September 1 (a date certain will be announced soon). This change will require all individuals inside a PCCLD facility to wear a face covering over the nose and mouth. This broadens the requirement for face coverings to all others who are inside local libraries. This practice aligns with current recommendations from the Pueblo Department of Public Health and Environment, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, and the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Please see your supervisor for additional information about this change. Similar requirements are currently being implemented elsewhere locally, including, but not limited to, local schools, Pueblo Community College, and the City of Pueblo.
The third change becomes effective October 1. This new policy will require PCCLD employees who have not received an FDA-endorsed COVID-19 vaccine both to undergo weekly COVID-19 testing and to wear a face covering over nose and mouth at all times while at work with others inside PCCLD facilities. This change aligns with similar practices being instituted now by both the federal and state governments. A copy of the new PCCLD policy is available here: https://www.pueblolibrary.org/sites/default/files/pdf/boardpackets/covid-19_vaccination_policy.pdf. Human Resources will provide further guidance soon to all employees about this new policy.
All these changes are intended to better ensure safe and healthy library environments for both employees and customers.
