Today was the final day for Books in the Park, 2014 - and we had a very fun summer! I just wanted to share some key results and some info about who made this program a huge success!
Here are the Key Results for Books in the Park 2014:
Visits: 2593
Circulation: 5422
Program Attendance: 4460
These numbers are huge - and they couldn't have been accomplished without the teamwork of these PCCLD staff members:
ALL of Outreach - Lorina and Val were the primary staff at BIP, Outreach collected books to distribute, Amy organized snacks and was a back-up for me if I needed to be gone, and MUCH MORE! These ladies rock!
ALL of Facilities - helped with the trailer - moving it around, etc...You guys are AWESOME!
Gigi, Dawn, Jacque and Natalie - the schedule at BIP was a little bit crazy with the other commitments of the staff there, so these ladies each committed to helping to close BIP 1 day each week.
Gigi, Jacque, Natalie and Lorina - these ladies put their heads together in the Spring to develop kits to be used at BIP (plus the Satellites, the Y and Rawlings) for storytime and project materials. Excellent work! The preparation really paid off!
Jon Walker, Michael Cox, Chris Brogan, Maria Smyer, Maria Kramer, Marlene Bregar - these wonderful PCCLD folks took time out of their busy schedules to visit with the Books in the Park kids and staff at least twice this Summer, and read stories with the kids. I truly appreciate these folks for providing positive experiences for the kids and adults who were there. Many kids even learned how to blow a conch!
Thanks to ALL PCCLD folks who promoted BIP and informed them about the days, times, and events. I'm sure the Call Center fielded lots of questions - but I don't know everyone's role. I just want you all to know how glad I am for everything you did - this summer was a huge success!
We also had outside partners - and I'll try to list them all here. If you know any of these folks - please thank them:
Parks and Rec - not only provided access to the parks, but also provided two staff members two days each week to do crafts with the kids. They also bought pizza for Bessemer on Tuesday, 7/29.
Pueblo YMCA - sent a staff member out twice a week to provide fun and engaging activities with the kids. Soccer balls, pool noodles, and much much more! The kids truly enjoyed this addition to BIP.
School District 60 Nutrition Program - provided lunch EVERY DAY at BIP. We had everywhere from 30-95 lunches throughout the summer! It was difficult to predict how many to bring, but they worked hard to make sure to feed everyone.
Care & Share - provided snacks EVERY DAY at BIP. We had up to 30 kids each day who benefited from this partnership.
The following folks visited BIP to read at least once to the kids:
Kevin Keilbach
Eva Montoya
Sandra Duff
Eileen Dennis
Jeff Chostner
Parkview Mobile Nurses
As you can see - it was a busy summer! Thanks for your support of BIP - and be ready - we might need you next year!
