2017 Youth Media Awards!

The ALA just announced the winners of its various youth media awards! These are the Newbery, Caldecott and Printz awards, among others - great books to recommend to patrons and relatives!

Newbery Medal (fiction for youth) - “The Girl Who Drank the Moon” by Kelly Barnhill, is the 2017 Newbery Medal winner. 

Caldecott Medal (picture books) - “Radiant Child: The Story of Young Artist Jean-Michel Basquiat,” illustrated by Javaka Steptoe 

Coretta Scott King Award (African-American author) - “March: Book Three,” by John Lewis and Andrew Aydin

Stonewall Book Award (lgbtq+ youth and teens) -

“If I Was Your Girl” by Meredith Russo 

Theodor Seuss Geisel Award (books for young readers) - “We Are Growing: A Mo Willems’ Elephant & Piggie Like Reading! Book” by Laurie Keller
